Sustainability Portals
The project defines the reuse of structural pillars made from old treated eucalyptus wood (formerly streetlight poles), externally wrapped with recycled tires coated in a layer of vegetable polyurethane in various colors (a biodegradable resin derived from castor oil) for cleanliness and protection. This highlights a useful repurposing of municipal waste, showcasing innovative solutions for hardness, safety, and product durability.
Bundles of bamboo are embedded into an inclined concrete structure, 1 meter high, with compact surfaces designed to withstand high-impact forces. The roofing features an interlacing of bamboo, which is then closed with thin arcs and slats, forming a basket-like artisan structure that shapes the entire spatial framework. On the ground level, a small rammed-earth construction houses essential services.
This project won a competition held by the Ubatuba Department of Culture, was officially registered, and fees were paid—but construction was canceled by Mayor Mauricio, and it was never built!
