Brasilia Nursery

Brasília/DF

A sustainable architecture project that generates rich organic food through the reuse of PET bottles, functioning as BioChips. Interconnected, these units enable hydroponic circulation, with each containing a plastic sponge inside, allowing the cultivation and productivity of more than 40 types of vegetables. Based on the calculated amount of discarded PET bottles, it would be possible to produce enough food for the entire American continent and parts of Russia.

This model was constructed in 1998 at the Esplanade of Ministries in Brasília as a prototype for eradicating hunger and poverty. It became a symbol of Law 269/99, passed by an absolute majority and established as permanent legislation.
